The real key with this compressor is the fine details, the balance. The tank valve used to drain water from the tank turns clockwise to open. It doesn’t seal by tightening with pressure but by spinning the valve to it’s lower threads which seals up the tank. Anybody who has owned a compressor knows that after a short while you start to hear hissing and sure enough, you have to find a wrench or pair of pliers etc., to cinch down the valve. But after two years of near daily use, the valve on the Thomas still opens and closes easily by hand. It costs more because it is more. I give this largely unknown compressor my highest recommendation.

I have larger compressors and wanted something lighter to take on small remodeling jobs. This compressor has delivered as promised. It does not have a lot of storage or pump volume, so if you have hose leaks, or go to blow off something, you notice yourself waiting. I wish that the compressor had come with a regulator. This seems to be a quality tool that a frequent user could justify the cost of through reliability and longevity. Time will tell if oil-less technology will endure. I do apreciate not worrying about oil leaks or the fan spraying oil on customer’s walls and carpets. Cold-weather starts are much better.

I needed a compressor to use with a finish nailer and wanted something quite portable and not too deafening when used indoors. I was also hoping for an oil-free model. This Thomas fit the bill and has performed flawlessly for several months. With the handle installed as shown it can easily be carried and moved with one hand but still gives plenty of air for a single 16 gauge finish nailer.
